Delicious Food and Beer! [Tainan]

Hello everyone, it’s Takky!
This time, I went to a “Rechao” spot with some friends, so I’d like to share what it was like.
By the way, “Rechao” is the Taiwanese version of an izakaya. It features small plates—mainly dishes cooked quickly over high heat on a stove—that pair perfectly with beer.
The reasonable prices are another big draw, and it’s widely loved by everyone from locals to tourists as a place where you can casually experience Taiwan’s authentic food culture.
沙卡里巴 Sakariba
Hours: 5:00 PM – 2:00 AM
Closed: None
It’s about a 15-minute taxi ride from Hamuya!
The interior has a slightly lively vibe and evokes the atmosphere of old Taiwan.

Here’s what the menu looks like.
The prices are relatively reasonable. There were so many options that I had a hard time deciding what to order.

What We Ate
When you order carbs at a rechao , they usually arrive first. If you want to save them for the end of the meal, I recommend ordering them separately.
The fried rice was light and fluffy—it was really delicious. Since it wasn’t enough for the three of us, we ordered seconds.

This is beef with satay sauce and chicken with scallion oil. Satay sauce is a seafood-based sauce. It was my first time trying it in a stir-fry, and it was really delicious. The chicken was also tender and juicy—it was delicious.

This is Jinsha Tofu. “Jinsha” refers to an egg yolk sauce—it’s incredibly rich and goes great with beer, so I love it.

I ordered one more dish:Kung Pao Cabbage (the one on the far left). It had a really strong chili kick—the kind of flavor that makes you want to wolf down a bowl of white rice.
I think all the dishes arrived in less than 30 minutes after we ordered. This speed is one of the restaurant’s biggest draws.

Every dish was so delicious—I was completely satisfied. If this place were near my house, I’d definitely be a regular. I just went there the other day, but I’m already craving it again.
The total bill for three beers and some food came to 1,100 yuan—that’s just under 2,000 yen per person. What a bargain!!
Summary
In this post, I introduced some rechao. I usually tend to stick to places near my house, so it was really great to discover some new spots. I’m sure there are still plenty of delicious restaurants in Tainan, so I’d like to keep exploring. If you ever visit Taiwan, be sure to try a hot pot meal!
Well then, everyone, stay safe today!
