I went on a casual picnic

Hi everyone, it’s Takky!
The other day, I went out for lunch, but since I arrived right at closing time, I couldn’t eat inside and ended up getting takeout. I figured I might as well eat outside somewhere, so I decided to have a casual picnic—and that’s what this blog post is about.
Food Procurement
竃妃姫職人焼肉飯専売
Hours: 11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.
Closed: Mondays
Here’s what it looks like from the outside. It’s right next to the Chihkan tower.

Here’s what the menu looks like. The main items are beef, pork, and chicken yakiniku bowls, fried chicken bowls, and grilled mackerel bowls, and there are also two mixed options.

The restaurant was decorated with Slam Dunk and Demon Slayer themes.
They also offer self-serve miso soup. It seemed like you could get unlimited refills if you ate there.

Finding a Location
Now that I’d successfully gotten some food, it was time to find a place to eat. It would have been ideal if there had been a park nearby, but there wasn’t one. Relying on a hunch that there would probably be a bench near the shrine, I set off walking.

There weren’t any benches at the shrine, but I found one nearby.
It’s near the front of the shop down below.
I could hear what sounded like Buddhist chants coming from the shrine, and the atmosphere was wonderful.

It’s a small space in a narrow alley.

It’s time for the meal you’ve been waiting for. Marbled beef rice bowl, medium size: 130 yuan (about 650 yen).
The meat was seasoned with a sweet and savory sauce and was absolutely delicious. The mysterious wakame seaweed had just the right amount of salt, giving it a flavor similar to wakame rice—it was delicious. The miso soup had a typical Taiwanese flavor and was a little on the sweet side.

Summary
Both the back alleys and the temples had such a quintessential Tainan vibe that I felt like a tourist. Eating outside is really nice. Since there are so many delicious foods in Tainan, it suddenly occurred to me that it would be nice to get a little bit of everything to go and try eating them somewhere outdoors.
Well then! Stay safe out there, everyone!!!! 🍃
