I went out and got some ice cream!

Hello, everyone! It’s Takky here!
It’s starting to get colder and colder here in Japan, but in Tainan, even though the temperatures have stabilized, it’s still around 30 degrees during the day, so it’s still the perfect weather for ice cream. So, today I’d like to introduce an ice cream shop I visited recently.
Ice Cream Shop
太陽冰品
Hours: 10:00 a.m. – 8:45 p.m.
Open every day
It’s a 15-minute walk from Hamuya! It’s a bit far and set away from the tourist areas, but that gives it a real local vibe.
Here’s what the restaurant looks like. It really captures that “good old Taiwan” vibe and has a great atmosphere. I went around opening time, so it wasn’t crowded, but there were plenty of seats, so it might get busy depending on the time of day.

The inside of the shop has a cozy, “grandma’s house” kind of feel to it, which is nice. In fact, the shopkeeper was an elderly woman.

There were lots of ice cream and other things in the display case.

By the way, this restaurant was recommended to me by the place where I stayed when I first visited Tainan. It’s been about three years since I last visited.
I ate it
If you’re eating in, the process is to first find a seat, then write down what you want on the order slip, and finally pay.
Here’s what the menu looks like. Sundaes are 140 yuan, ice cream is 60 to 70 yuan, and popsicles are about 30 yuan.

Some menus include photos, so you can order with confidence.

This time, I ordered the Caohu Taro Shaved Ice. The flavors were taro, peanut, milk, pineapple, and passion fruit.

The portions on the other menu items aren’t that large either, so I think you’ll be able to enjoy them without feeling too full, even after eating a variety of other delicious dishes.
Summary
In this post, I introduced Taiyang Ice Cream! Not only is the ice cream delicious, but I really liked the fact that it feels more like a place loved by locals than one geared toward tourists. In fact, while I was eating there, some elderly couples just happened to drop by, quickly had a bite, and then left.
I highly recommend this shop to anyone who wants to try some traditional Taiwanese ice cream. Be sure to check it out!!
Well then, everyone, stay safe today!
