【Hamuya News 2026/04/22】A Slightly Self-Indulgent Post from the Owner of Hamuya Guesthouse in Tainan

はむ

早安Good morning !!!

(The opening photo is just something that looked lively for no particular reason.)

On April 7th, I turned 58 years old—Yes, I’m哈木桑 Hamu-san—a man who has made it through a full 58 years of life! 👏 (almost 60!)

I double-checked several times in case there was some mistake, but nope—it was definitely, undeniably 58 years old! 😆

And that also means I’ve been living in Taiwan for 13 and a half years now.

And speaking of which, our very own Hamuya Guesthouse will be celebrating its 13th anniversary on May 5th! (Time really flies, doesn’t it? haha)

When I first came to Taiwan, I stayed in Taipei for a while, but during a trip around the island, I fell in love at first sight with Tainan.
(I can’t really explain why—it just happened.)

And before I knew it, I had moved here without hesitation‼️

“Hamu-san! Can we interview you?!”

はむ

“Huh?! About what??”

ここてぃ

“About the 13th anniversary!! ❤️”

So, I was interviewed by Kokoty, and it looks like all the details will soon be revealed in the “Hamuya News” 😂
(For context, Kokoty is in charge of Hamuya’s X account.)

Anyway, that’s just a little side note about what’s been going on lately.

And speaking of timing… I somehow ended up starting a personal event right around this sort of milestone moment, so today’s post is basically about that announcement.
(Sorry for the very personal detour 🙏)

Today’s News

Hamu-san, the owner of Hamuya Guesthouse, recently turned 58.
As a little personal celebration, I suddenly thought,

はむ

“I’d love to see my own six-pack again…”

So I decided to pick up where I left off four years ago and start again!! 💪

The target date is July 7th—one day before my wife Miki’s birthday!

For her birthday gift, I’m planning to wrap up my transformed body with a ribbon 🎀🤣 (pretty cool, right?)

And so, the “#7月7日に腹筋が割れるはむさん”
( The “Hamu-san Will Have Abs by July 7” Project) has officially begun.

This is pretty much the opposite of my New Year’s resolution, but let’s just call it 朝令暮改 (choreibokai)
This is a Japanese four-character idiom “changing plans on the fly.” 😎

I’m really sorry for using the “Hamuya News” for such a personal post!
(But I truly believe this is something essential for our future growth—seriously.)

That said, I’ll do my best!! 💪

Today’s Weather in Tainan

Forecast: High 31°C, Low 23°C, 0% chance of rain.

It still feels cool (in my personal opinion).

Today’s Photo

This is how far I got four years ago.

But I did NOT reach the goal !!!!!😆

Everyone, stay safe today.

P.S.
On May 5th, the anniversary day, I’m going to try a Muay Thai lesson.
(An almost-60-year-old trying to get stronger, haha.)

Let's share this post !
