If You Want to Eat “Authentic Taiwanese Cuisine” in Tainan, This Is the Place: [Feng Shou Fan Zhuo]

Hi everyone, it’s Takky!
I went out to eat with friends again, so I’m going to tell you all about it!
The restaurant I visited this time was actually recently featured on a Japanese celebrity’s YouTube channel.
The Restaurant We’re Featuring This Time
「豊収飯棹Feng Shou Fan Zhuo」
Hours: 4:30 PM – 11:40 PM
Closed: None
It’s an 11-minute walk from Hamuya, but since it’s near Chikan Tower and Yongle Market, I think it’s in a very accessible location!
They’re open late into the night, but I believe last orders are around 10:30 PM. If you go too late, you might not be able to get a seat.
Here’s what the menu looks like. It’s quite reasonable for such a high-quality restaurant.

A few things to keep in mind about this restaurant: you can only stay for up to 60 minutes, you can’t place additional orders, and they don’t sell alcohol. As for alcohol, it seems you can bring your own if you get permission from the staff.
Cuisines
The first dish was shrimp fried rice. It was ready about a minute after I ordered it. That was lightning fast. The shrimp were incredibly plump and juicy, and it was really delicious.

The second dish was “塔香蛤蜊”—clams stir-fried with basil. This, too, was delicious, with the plump clams and the aroma of basil complementing each other perfectly.

The third dish is the stir-fried ground meat shown in the upper left of the photo. The dish is called “Little Fly Heads,” and since I couldn’t imagine what it was just from the name, I decided to order it. It’s a stir-fry of Chinese chives, black douchi, and ground meat; apparently, the name comes from the fact that the douchi resembles flies. The flavor had a typically Taiwanese sweetness with a kick of chili and garlic—it was a real “rice thief” of a dish and delicious.

The fourth dish is mapo tofu. It features a perfect balance of the heat from the chili peppers and the numbing sensation of Sichuan pepper. In my opinion, it’s the best mapo tofu I’ve ever had in Taiwan.

All our dishes were served in less than five minutes! You don’t have to worry about the food taking forever to arrive even with the short time limit, so feel free to order without hesitation.
The total bill came to 630 yuan (about 3,150 yen) for the food plus 100 yuan for tea! Since there were two of us this time, it came out to just over 1,500 yen per person, and we were completely full. What a bargain!!
Conclusion
In this post, I introduced “Fengshou Fan Zhuo”! No matter what you order here, you can’t go wrong—everything is delicious—so I highly recommend going with a large group and ordering plenty of dishes!
However, since it’s a popular spot, it gets incredibly crowded during peak hours. You’ll have a much easier time getting a table right after it opens or just before closing, so I think it’s a great idea to plan your trip around visiting this place along with other restaurants!
If you’re ever in Tainan, be sure to stop by!
Well then, everyone, stay safe today!
